Many different countries have their own name for the small, thin, and sweet cakes Americans call cookies. These can be soft, or crisp, and are typically hand held. Cookies are usually made from flour and other ingredients. In England and Australia, cookies are called biscuits. Spaniards call them galletas, and German people call everyday cookies keks, while Christmas versions are known as Plzchen. Italians have different names for different kinds of cookies.
